Urban Impact has the privilege and honor of working with over 2,000 students every year through 60+ programs but there is no way we could ever accomplish this without the dedicated volunteers and donors who volunteer their time, talents, and treasures to impact students on the North Side.

The Bob Scheidemantel Service Award was given this year to Nick and Lee-Ann Bruno, who have been involved in Urban Impact for over a decade, for their exceptional service. This amazing couple spends hundreds of hours mentoring students and brainstorming ways to improve programs, recruit leaders, and reach the North Side for Jesus.

This list of their involvement only scratches the surface:

Nick

  • Attended and sponsored ManUp Pittsburgh conference
  • Supervised and preached at basketball games
  • Coached Athletics teams and sponsors the department
  • Mentored students
  • Participated and led student and men’s Bible Studies
  • Led the Hospitality team at The Bridge

Lee-Ann

  • Started volunteering for Urban Impact in 2014
  • Developed a leveled dance program in our Academy
  • Became Dance Director in 2018
  • Choreographed ATA School Musical and UI Live
  • Assisted with costumes in Performing Arts
  • Mentored students
  • Assisted in writing original scores for UI Live

It’s one thing to be involved in running a basketball gym or training dance teachers – it’s a whole different thing to disciple students for the sake of the gospel. Nick and Lee-Ann are always pouring themselves out for the staff, volunteers, and students they serve. They shine as examples of Christ-like humility and are passionate about discipling and mentoring students. Wherever they are, they serve wholeheartedly and with a righteous passion. They are dedicated to whatever task is at hand, whether it’s leading a Bible study or dishing out pizza, and Urban Impact is honored and privileged to be able to call the Brunos family!
